Work Environment:
Our culture at Duluth Trading Company values in-person collaboration for learning and creativity. This position, based at our headquarters near Madison, WI, is structured as a hybrid role. You will be required to be onsite for two weeks per month, as well as for key meetings. Outside of those times, you’ll have the flexibility to work remotely in the United States.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategic IT Leadership: Develop and execute the IT strategy and roadmap in alignment with overall business objectives, ensuring technology initiatives support revenue growth, operational efficiency, and an exceptional customer experience across all channels (stores and online).
- Customer-Facing Technologies: Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of all customer-facing technologies, including e-commerce platforms, point-of-sale (POS) systems, in-store digital experiences, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Enterprise Applications Management: Oversee the implementation, management, enhancement, and integration of core enterprise applications such as ERP, merchandising systems, supply chain management, and operational tech, ensuring they effectively support business operations.
- IT Infrastructure & Operations: Direct the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust and scalable IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, cloud environments, and data centers, to ensure high availability and performance for both online and in-store operations.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management: Establish and enforce comprehensive cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technologies to protect company data, customer information, and intellectual property from internal and external threats. Lead incident response planning and execution.
- Data Strategy & Storage: Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy, including data governance, data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics capabilities to leverage data for informed decision-making across the organization. Oversee secure and efficient data storage solutions.
- Endpoint & Desktop Support: Lead and optimize the desktop and endpoint support functions, ensuring efficient and effective resolution of technical issues for all employees across corporate offices and retail locations.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with key technology vendors and service providers, ensuring cost-effectiveness, service level agreements (SLAs), and strategic alignment.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all IT systems and processes comply with relevant industry regulations, data privacy laws (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR, CCPA), and internal governance policies.
- Shape Strategy: Develops distinctive strategies to achieve and sustain competitive advantage. Anticipates risks and devises contingency plans to manage them. Translates broad strategy into clear objectives and practical action plans. Focus the organization on efforts that add significant value. Align the organization and allocate resources according to strategic priorities.

What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with at least 5-8 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Director, Senior Director, or VP level) within a retail organization with significant online and brick-and-mortar presence.
- Proven experience in managing complex IT environments encompassing customer-facing systems, enterprise applications, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Extensive Retail Technology Expertise: Deep understanding of the unique technology needs and challenges of a multi-channel retail environment, including e-commerce platforms, POS systems, inventory management, and customer engagement technologies.
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Proven ability to develop and execute complex IT strategies that align with business goals and drive tangible results.
- Technical Acumen: Strong knowledge across a broad range of IT domains, including enterprise architecture, cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), networking, cybersecurity best practices, and data management.
- Leadership & Team Building: Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building, motivating, and managing high-performing IT teams.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of retail business processes, financial models, and operational drivers. Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Project & Program Management: Proficient in managing large-scale IT projects and programs from initiation to completion, on time and within budget.
- Communication & Influence: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Problem-Solving & Decision Making: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Vendor & Contract Management: Experience negotiating and managing complex vendor contracts and relationships.
- Security Mindset: A proactive and diligent approach to cybersecurity and risk management.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
