Position Overview

 

The Sr. Director of Digital and Architecture is responsible for all customer-facing & core technology platforms across all channels (store, online, mobile, etc.). Holding an enterprise technology perspective, you will oversee, design, and evolve our organization's complex technology landscape. Accountable for developing flexible architecture and building services across the enterprise that can be quickly leveraged. Expected to drive significant innovation and evolve both the competency and capability of technology in the eyes of Duluth's customers and internal business stakeholders by helping build the foundation of an agile, innovative, data-driven retailer for the modern consumer. Oversees and directs teams that design, develop, and maintain the Digital, Marketing, CRM/Loyalty, Enterprise Data & Analytics, and Automation & integration systems that deliver solutions to achieve strategic and operational business goals and targeted financial and quality results. Responsible for process improvement and cost reduction for systems of client group supported. Executes operational plans that ensure all work is performed according to defined policies and procedures, quality, and productivity standards. Outcomes directed significantly impact the organization's short- and long-term results, specific customers, and partners. Decisions have a significant impact on the organization. 

 

 

Position Details

Work Environment:

We are headquartered in the Madison, WI area, but this job may be performed remotely within the United States. If you happen to live near and enjoy coming into the office, we will welcome you too!

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Directs and oversees the team that conducts the overall planning, design, development and run/maintain function of systems and technologies that deliver solutions for the client systems within the designated area of responsibility. Develops and oversees the implementation of processes, and policies that have significant impact upon the organization.
  • Uses technical knowledge to anticipate and understand the implications of the latest technologies to communicate and evangelize them to appropriate audiences and to integrate these technologies appropriately into products and programs.
  • Management of Operational Expenditure and for driving initiatives to be cost efficient, delivering value for money for our investments
  • Sets technology and infrastructure performance and service standards. Leads in the acquisition and/or development of new technologies and tools to improve the quality of the users’ experience without compromising service
  • Ensures that investments in technology are appropriate to the developments in the industry and produce satisfactory returns. Adjusts architecture to support changing business directions.
  • Provides input into the formulation of the strategies of the IT function and based upon prevailing conditions, executes and/or adjusts the approved strategies of the areas of accountability. Outcomes directed and influenced have a major impact on the organization’s short- and long-term results, critical customers, or partners.
  • Architectural Strategy: Define and maintain the long-term architectural vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with global business objectives.
  • System Design: Create end-to-end architectural blueprints for enterprise-level applications, cloud infrastructure, and data ecosystems.
  • Technology Evaluation: Lead the "Buy vs. Build" decision process, conducting deep-dive research into emerging technologies (AI, Edge Computing, Serverless) to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Governance & Standards: Establish best practices, coding standards, and architectural guardrails to ensure consistency across various engineering teams.
  • Other duties as assigned by Leadership.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
    • Equivalent work experience would be considered
  • 8+ years of experience in retail technology, B2B/B2C products in an agile environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple product sprint teams, tradeoff, and investment decisions across multiple domains / stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience problem solving and leading high-performing cross functional teams to bring vision to reality
  • Demonstrated Ability to dive deep into the technical details of their products while simultaneously defining and communicating vision as a key leader within our organization
  • Proven skills in defining, presenting, socializing, and gaining commitment to solutions and transition strategies from senior business and technology stakeholders
  • Experience understanding customer's business processes/drivers and informational needs
  • Tangible interest and awareness of the latest key technology innovations and trends, particularly those having (or likely to have) a material impact on the retail sector in the future
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

 

Physical Environment & Travel Expectations:

  • Sitting up to 90% of work hours.
  • Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movement (i.e.: typing).
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, and bending.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Position Compensation Outline 

Compensation Range: $200,000 to $240,000/year 

This position is eligible to participate in the company bonus program. 

 

Compensation listed is for the full-time position at this specific location and is based on several factors, including experience, and qualifications. Benefits and perks may have eligibility requirements and are subject to change.
