Position Overview

 

We are seeking a talented and dedicated Senior Digital Software Engineer. This challenging yet rewarding role combines expertise in full-stack development with a strong focus on progressive web application experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions to address complex business issues.

Work Environment:

We are headquartered in the Madison, WI area, but this job may be performed remotely within the United States. If you happen to live near and enjoy coming into the office, we will welcome you!

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Develop and maintain progressive web applications using modern technologies: You will be responsible for creating and maintaining progressive web applications, using the latest technologies to ensure our applications are cutting-edge and able to meet the needs of our users.
  • Contribute to both front-end and back-end development: Your role will involve working on both the client and server sides of our applications, developing functional and attractive digital environments for our users.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features: You will work closely with other teams across the company, including design and product management, to define new features, design them, and ensure they are shipped in a timely manner.
  • Unit-test code for robustness, usability, and general reliability: Our software needs to be reliable and robust, and we count on our engineers to write tests that ensure it's both. You will be responsible for making sure our software works well under a variety of conditions.
  • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance: Part of your role will also involve debugging software and improving the performance of our applications to ensure the best experience for our users.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science - Equivalent work experience will be considered. 
  • 5+ Years of experience. 
  • Proven software development experience and full stack development skills: You should have a proven track record in software development, with strong skills in full stack development.
  • Experience with modern programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Ruby: Our ideal candidate has experience with one or more modern programming languages, and is comfortable picking up new ones as needed.
  • Deep knowledge of web development technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and Node.js: We're looking for someone who has a deep understanding of web development technologies and can apply this knowledge to build robust, scalable applications.
  • Familiarity with progressive web applications and relevant tools: You should be familiar with the concept of progressive web applications, and have experience using the tools related to them.
  • Strong understanding of the full web development life cycle, including UX/UI, web design, development, and deployment: You should understand all phases of the web development life cycle, from conceptualization and design, through development, and up to deployment.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, flexibility, and ability to handle multiple tasks: We value team players who are flexible and able to juggle multiple tasks at once. Being able to adapt to changing priorities and workloads is key to success in this role.
  • Back-end development experience, including REST APIs, is essential. However, we are agnostic to specific languages, and more interested in your ability to create efficient, reliable server-side applications.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Physical Environment & Travel Expectations:

  • Travel is required for less than 10% of company-related meetings, programs, and/or events.
  • Sitting is required for 90% of working hours.
  • Standing is required for 10% of working hours.
  • Continuous arm, hand, and wrist movement (ie: typing)
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, and bending.
  • Noise level no greater than casual conversation.
  • Ability to perform work in cubicle workstations or an office setting.
  • Work in temperatures ranging from 65 - 75 degrees.

Position Compensation Outline 

Compensation Range: $100,000 - $130,000/year 

This position is eligible to participate in the company bonus program. 

 

Compensation listed is for the full-time position at this specific location and is based on several factors, including experience, and qualifications. Benefits and perks may have eligibility requirements and are subject to change.
