Position Overview

 

As the Big Dam Van Event Coordinator, you will be the face of Duluth Trading Company’s "boots on the ground" experiential tour. You will serve as a brand ambassador, navigating the country to bring the Duluth brand to life through unique event activations and engaging social content. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, a passion for the brand, and a willingness to embrace the adventure of life on the road.

 

Position Details

This is a traveling temporary special assignment. If you are curious about how this would work with your current position, please reach out to your manager with questions. Upon completion of the assignment, you will transition back to your current position and compensation. The assignment runs May 2026 through December 2026, but is subject to early conclusion or extension based on business needs and the performance of the tour.

 

All travel, meals, and lodging will be provided in accordance with our company travel policy outlined in the handbook.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Logistics & Planning: Arrange advance event logistics, including booking and permitting as needed, and maintain direct communication with event hosts.
  • Event Execution: Drive the Big Dam Van to all scheduled events and lead the setup and execution of the on-site event presence.
  • Brand Representation: Serve as a spokesperson for the brand, greeting consumers and leaving them with a positive brand experience.
  • Social Media & Content: Take full ownership of social media channels for the tour, creating engaging content for platforms like TikTok, Meta, and Instagram.
  • Operational Management: Manage vehicle upkeep, maintenance, and the inventory of event infrastructure. Alert HQ when merchandise needs replenishment and immediately report any issues with the event vehicle to the appropriate manager.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with local retailers and regional Duluth staff to set event expectations and ensure successful on-site support.
  • Performance Goals: Meet monthly quotas for a specific number of events or strategic stops between major activations.
  • Reporting: Regularly report back to Duluth HQ regarding event success, scheduling, and any issues that need resolution.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Event Coordination, PR, Communications, or related field
    • Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with the public or in consumer-facing roles is preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational and time management skills are critical for this highly autonomous position.
  • Social Media Savvy: Strong understanding of popular social media channels and content creation.
  • Personality: Outgoing, friendly, and exuberant with a "people-person" personality.
  • Requirements:
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License and a favorable driving record.
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
    • Must be able to work major holidays and stay in hotels or part-time housing during the tour.
    • Successful completion of a background check, including driving records.
    • Successful completion of a drug screen.
    • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Physical Environment & Travel Expectations:

  • Regularly required to lift, carry, push, and pull event equipment weighing up to 50 lbs independently. Frequently required to maneuver items exceeding 100 lbs using team-lift techniques or provided mechanical aids (e.g., dollies, hand trucks).
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary standing position for up to 8–10 hours during event activations. Frequent walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting (both below the waist and above the shoulder) are required during set-up and break-down.
  • Must be able to operate a large commercial-style van (non-CDL) for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day) in various traffic and weather conditions. This includes the ability to use foot controls and maintain a high level of visual alertness.
  • Occasional use of ladders (up to 6 feet) and the ability to climb in and out of the event vehicle multiple times per day.
  • This role is primarily "outdoors." Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including high heat, humidity, cold, and rain, for the duration of an event.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to assemble event tents, signage, and operate digital devices (smartphones/tablets) for social media content creation.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision for safe driving. Must be able to communicate effectively in loud, high-traffic event environments.

Position Compensation Outline 

Compensation Range: $2,000 to $2,700 per pay period, and is subject to standard tax withholdings
